What Happens On The Day

Right here at Hatfield House & Park – 4 great firework displays! Three of the UK’s best firework companies compete against each other with a 10-minute spectacular firework display choreographed to music followed by a breath-taking, huge finale display. The types of fireworks being used by the companies are unlike any material used for fireworks available to the general public, each company uses category 4 fireworks, which are only for professional use and the biggest available in the UK.

The event is the only one of its type in the UK where the audience can vote for the team they liked the most using their mobile phone. Texts will be charged at normal rates and a limit of 1 vote per number is in place. Each voting number receives a text back with the results.

Hatfield House 2024 TEAMS

TEAM 1
Star fireworks

Slide

Star Fireworks is celebrating 53 amazing years in fireworks this year, and although they’re no strangers to Firework Champions, they’re delighted to be competing at Hatfield House for the first time. Star Fireworks teams work from several locations across the UK, firing shows for customers from the Isle of Wight right up to Scotland.

Slide

Their clients include premiership football clubs, rugby clubs, race courses, TV shows, blue chip companies such as BMW, Coca Cola and Deutsche Bank, as well as clients such as The Rolling Stones, The Red Hot Chill Peppers, Christina Aguilera and even the Royal Philharmonic.

Slide

Their work sees them firing from roof tops, barges, cruise terminals, castle walls as well as the TV sets for shows like This Morning and Blue Peter. They have provided the fireworks and special effects for the UK Big Brother TV show on Channel 4, Channel 5 and now ITV since 2002.

Slide

Their display has been specially designed for Hatfield House. The team are using Finale 3D design studio and the 'FireOne' firing system, and the same system used when they won the British Firework Championships 'Champion of Champions' a few years later. Their show includes some very special fireworks to a wonderful soundtrack.

TEAM 2
Ashdown fireworks

Slide

Ashdown Fireworks began following a chance meeting between Peter Roe and Fred Cornwell in 1997. The Fireworks magazine had advertised a course in pyrotechnic chemistry to be held at RARDE in Kent, and presented by the world-renowned Ken and Bonnie Kosanke. Opportunities like that are rare and you always meet interesting people. So began the relationship which over the years has
resulted in some of the most varied displays of fireworks and special effects attracting spectators from far and wide.

Slide

After watching the second Southport Musical Fireworks competition in 2000, which was won by Northern Lights using a manual electric firing system, we felt a pyromusical was something we could
achieve ourselves, and we delivered our first show to music a few weeks later using a similar firing system. Since 2004 we have been using FireOne hardware, and 2023 will be the first year we move away from the FXM Script Composer design software which we have used for the past 20 years.

Slide

We have a very enthusiastic team who enjoy the challenge of doing something different, with a keen interest not only in the fireworks and events themselves but also the underlying physics, chemistry, electronics and software. Whilst many of the original team are still involved, another generation of family and friends are enjoying the design and delivery of displays and are no less passionate aboutcreating the most exciting,

Slide

varied and entertaining displays we can. This year will be the first time
the new generation enters the competition scene and are delighted to be taking part in MLE’s event
at Hatfield House. We are really looking forward to working with the other teams to provide an
evening of fantastic displays.
